Hubby is shoveling snow on our walks and it sounds like scrunchy ice under the snow.
There were 200 plus accidents on the roads here yesterday.

Winter has arrived.

@disk4mat I watched some weather news out of Calgary and saw the caution to stay home if you don't need to be out in the snow and footage of the road chaos. Stay safe. I hope you can stay inside.

@Zevon

Thanks, no plan to go out today. Hubby said the ground was still warm making it melt then cold weather now ice snow on top.

Not worth going out no matter how much I would like to do an errand.

You stay safe too national news did a graphic on the mb change needed to create the weather bomb. so I did see that.

@disk4mat it's deceptively a little breezy here at the moment. hard to believe we could see gale force winds in a few hours. Hoping for everyone's safety through the storm.

Glad to hear you can stay inside today :) I remember those tricky layers of ice and snow in Alta and learning to drive in it when it was safe to be outside. ๐Ÿš— ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ

@Zevon

The problem here is every winter everyone has to relearn how to drive in it.

@disk4mat lol ... I was just thinking that! also reflecting upon how we rarely get snow, but when we do, many of our Alta retirees and transplants seem to have forgotten how to drive in it. One year, a woman (don't know if she was originally Albertan) got herself stuck in the middle of a five-way intersection, she kept her foot on the gas and spun round and round ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ I couldn't stop laughing becuz the solution was obvious lol

@Zevon ๐Ÿ˜‚

A lot of our buses couldn't make the hills yesterday. Calgary has a lot of hills.

@disk4mat lol, saw lots of buses trapped in the snow on those hills. the snow wasn't actually that deep then.

@Zevon

No it wasn't deep it was the icey part and probably before the snow plows got out.

@disk4mat Here in NC, learning how to drive is all the training one gets. ๐Ÿคฃโ„๏ธ @Zevon

@Zevon This literally happened nearby. Know this hill well. It was memorable and hilarious. ๐Ÿ˜† @disk4mat

@jaunty @disk4mat @Zevon
Yes, you have those who freak out over it, and those who won't stay home no matter what. ๐Ÿ˜‚

@CinnamonGirlE
I feel bad for everyone who has to go to work regardless of the weather.

@jaunty @Zevon

@disk4mat @jaunty @Zevon
As a nurse I get it. I have sure had to drive through some weather to get there before. But if I don't? Stay off the road people! You aren't equipped to drive in snow, when it only does it every few years! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@CinnamonGirlE @jaunty @Zevon

We have to eventually if we want to go out in the next few months.

I don't drive in it anymore I rely on my hubby who is pretty good in it.

@disk4mat @jaunty @Zevon
I understand. I mean more the people who are like, "It's snowing! Let's go riding!"
Those people.
We have to still live and do things. Good you have him.

@CinnamonGirlE

I hear you on that the people with 4 wheel drive or idiot trucks with the wheels raised high.

@jaunty @Zevon

@disk4mat @jaunty @Zevon
We have our own special category of trucks where I live.
I call them "penis trucks"
Because every person that drives one is an obnoxious asshole with Trump stickers/paraphanelia. With obvious insecurities. ๐Ÿคฎ

@disk4mat @CinnamonGirlE @jaunty @Zevon

Then there's that segment of people with 4WD (trucks, usually) who think can dash along because they are safe from ice on the roads.

Yeah no. :facepalm:

@CinnamonGirlE Iโ€™m especially fond of โ€œI can drive my 4-wheel anywhere!โ€ crowd.

Frequently the first ones to end up in the ditch. ๐Ÿ˜‚
