Our news says 18 to 20 thousand people have evacuated Jasper National Park.
@singlemaltgirl @disk4mat I've had experience with fires. Horrible. Hoping for the best for everyone affected.
Terrible wildfires this year again so many above normal temp days and no rain.

@dauphin87 we have 300 fires burning in bc right now. it's mostly to the north of me but there are some to the south, west, and east of me right now. we've avoided the smoke (the right wind direction i guess) but i don't know how long for. those being evacuated are learning how fast fire can travel. it's pretty scary how it can jump a road or hwy. it's so dry rn. and hot.
i'm worried about everyone & anyone in and around the path of fire rn. ππΎ
Calgary is accepting evacuees now.
@disk4mat yeah, they've taken a few thousand in already. some have taken refuge on the bc side as well.
@disk4mat my friend in edm said they are besieged by fire on all evacuation routes - thru bc, out thru hinton. bc is on fire all around them so they are driving thru fire no matter which way they go.
the fire is very close to jasper resort and is jumping the roads.
weather conditions are not helping. they need rain. & lots of it.
