A special avalanche warning was issued Thursday for most of the regions in Alberta and B.C. monitored by Avalanche Canada.

Significant snow has fallen in many backcountry recreational areas and this new snow is sitting on weaker layers from early February, said Avalanche Canada. The natural avalanche activity has slowed, but events triggered by humans remain likely.
