Calling all gearheads and petrolheads:

My gf is buying a car. We’re looking at a 2006 Cadillac STS V6 AWD with under 98k miles, good history, good maintenance, and good condition. Priced at $5.5k.

Opinions, what to watch out for, do you think maintenance will be a money pit (it’s a Cadillac, so it’s kinda luxury, but it’s also American and not a CADILLAC Cadillac, I think, so maybe it won’t be a bitch?), is the price right, etc...

All data is appreciated.

@GlytchMeister: @GlytchMeister: Not sure about the pricing, maybe compare to others of same year/condition. Check for any maint. records. Nice to see if the oil has been changed on a regular schedule (every 3-5k miles). Barring any other major work done (engine/trans) it should last another 200k... IF you keep the oil changed.
Chk for leaks, get under it with a flashlight. Minor leaks happen, you just don't want to see wide areas that look wet/oily or look to have had been cleaned recently.

@daz

Ok, yeah, that’s all standard procedure, lol.

Turns out it wasn’t AWD tho, so didn’t go for it. RWD is not a good thing to have in illinois
