@MidnightRider On one hand I’m curious to watch how this plays out. Corporations have successfully removed the knowledge/ability regarding how to cook nutritious food out of our society for profits. Healthy eating is at odds with capitalism.
Totally.
Try no refined carbs or sugars & you quickly see the challenge. The bulk of our meals are
poisoned with both.
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider I eat not much packaged foods. Have since my 20’s, but I’m the oddball. Made it thru grad school on homemade soup and biscuits.
Good biscuits are worth every gram of flour.
But don’t try to find them in NJ.
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider Helps when you have access to really good butter and flour. Mill City and all.

The only box I gave into was an occassional mac n cheese or cereal box for my kids. Candy and pop was occassional because I didn't want to create the 'forbidden fruit' aura.
Food when your poor is a maze of cost and rebellion and over compensation and guilt as a parent.
I chose organic and gardening. But those choices aren't on everyone's table when trying to survive.
I wish there was a garden on every block and a greenhouse in every neighborhood.💚
@damselfly59 I started eating beets, I used to hate beets, I now love beets; it’s a learning curve. My grandmother said eat the rainbow and what she meant was eat as many different colored vegetables as you can find.
@MidnightRider I love that saying! I find the struggle is hardest starting in jr high for keeping kids eating healthy. Not sure if it is hormones or peer pressure. They came back in their 20s so might just be rebellion.
Got one more to experiment with so wish me luck as we enter the teens.
@MidnightRider 😂 ah the good old days and most mornings
@MidnightRider wide palate...tequila was the most dangerous tho stripped my inhibitions like paint thinner on a painted lockbox
@damselfly59 The wild turkey days I presume. 😂😂
