@damselfly59 there's a whole universe in your gut and it controls many functions once thought to be unrelated.

@_txgal I am a fan and keep an ear to the ground on it. I have heard their is a gut brain too but seems to be minimalizedover the last few years.
Learned a bit about the gut over the last few years.But always up to learn more. Science is getting interesting on the human body these last few years.
Just chuckling on the way it captured the eye.

@damselfly59

I cannot wait to see the understanding of the microbiome expand to the extent that it can be used in psychiatry. Honestly, getting a better handle on treating anxiety & depression alone would be just fantastic.

@ATXJane right? I'vebeen watching this for the last couple years. It correlates for us. My girl sufferred anxiety, depression, bipolar or oppositional depending on the psychiatrist. I often wonder if it tied in with her cancer.
Trying to do good by 11 so any info shared is welcome💗

@damselfly59

Yes, gut biome info is important. I’m on a FODMAP diet for bad IBS. My innards are undoubtedly out of balance. Foods that are considered good probiotics throw me into a tailspin. So one of my current projects is to right my gut. It has to be part of optimizing health, both physically & psychologically.
My adopted son’s bio parent has Bipolar 1. I could see he was depressed in middle/high school. I wish I had been able to get him on medication before the bipolar manifested.

@damselfly59

I know certain yogurts contain specific species of acidophilus, some of which are related to lowered levels of depression or anxiety. I think the real issue is how to keep the little critters alive long-term because once you wipe them out with antibiotics, etc. it can be hard to reestablish the correct types. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that just taking some acidophilus caps without feeding the little fellows was enough to get in balance. 😐

@ATXJane @damselfly59 jumping in here.... would you consider facial transplants? My doctor told me to do some research.

@ATXJane @damselfly59 lol I didn't mean Facial transplants....omg , I meant fecal transplants....omg , that might be worse....😂

@MommaJ 😂🤗 not going to ask you about your facial creams. Best autocorrect of the day! @ATXJane

@damselfly59 oh, you don't want to try it....lol
But seriously, they did a fecal transplant in identical twins. The results were crazy. I'll see if I can find the article. I would do it if I could pick my donor. I want a health, fit, slender, athletic, strong , intelligent person. If was only that easy.
@ATXJane hey you. How are you doing in this crazy weather. P.s. I sent my daughter omega 3 and begged her to take it. She promised she would.🤞hope it helps her. The research shows it should

@MommaJ @damselfly59

Omega 3 is awesome. You probably already know that it’s important the 6s aren’t too high relative to the 3s. Like no more than 1:2.

Here’s my crazy weather report: chickens in the bathroom! These are the geriatric 6; 15 others are still doing fine outside.
From L to R they are Raven, R2, Peach, Gidget, the most handsome & kind Shy Guy, & my beloved Ginger (mother of my long gone therapy chicken, Peeper)
It is getting a little, uh, smelly but we endure for the elders.

@ATXJane @MommaJ
😍 😍 So cold! Oh a therapy chicken.💙 They are so calming. I love watching them.
You are such a good chicken mama.

@MommaJ @damselfly59

Yes, I’ve had them for 20+ years, mostly bantams. I currently have 21 chickens, 4 of them are standard/full size hens (Mocha, Latte, Java & Chippy).
I’m looking forward to upgrading their coops when we make the jump to Leander. They’re basically pets that lay a few eggs occasionally. 💜

@ATXJane do you sell the eggs, I'd love to buy some on the regular....live a beautifulfresh egg. Any ducks inbthe future? @damselfly59

@ATXJane I got the bad news , we are not moving to the ranch.. At least not until retirement. I had my coop designed, and my mini goata, cows and donkeys all reasy to go. 😪 i know him, retirementwont xome in my lifetime.. such a workaholic. We do have dr appoints to set up the third and final back surgery for him. So we will see. But I'd love to buy some eggs if your selling. Let's do lunch again when the weather gets better.
@damselfly59

@MommaJ @ATXJane I used to freerange orbingtons, rhodies and morains (love the chocolate eggs).
Accidently had fighting chickens several years back (thought he said flying chicken🙄). One hen who whoored around with rooster next door, spawned 30 attack chickens in 1yr. My own ecological disaster. Took 5 years to eradicate all but one called Snowball. Favorite lap chicken of all time.
Lost my girls while losing my girl (racoons, owls, cougars or bigfoot?). Will reboot soon🐔

@damselfly59 well I went and bought 10 (chickens) the guy said pick out the ones you want and we will catch them for you. So I did. I was so excited. I said, I can't wait to get some eggs. Well ma'am you won't be getting eggs....you picked all rosters.....lol. they were so much prettier. Needless to say I had lots to learn. I had a gay chicken, I kid you not. 1 week she laid eggs, next week she crowed like a roaster and no eggs..every week she/he did this. Doctor wasn't surprised.

@ATXJane

@MommaJ 😂 so cute. Thanks fpr the zebrano vs alfred call out that was sass gold! @ATXJane

@damselfly59 @MommaJ

I let mine out one coop at a time in rotation and put a blessing over them to be invisible to predation, danger, or injury. We have two different species of hawk living in our 1 block neighborhood.
I'm a little jelly of folks who can easily free range their chooks.
We have a raccoon & a snake relocation program. I twas geting a HUGE rat snake moved for later transport & he got loose. I caught him again, but at high decibels with lots of cussing & jumping.

@damselfly59 @MommaJ

I'm not familiar with morains, but I love orps and rhodies.
It sure sounds like you've had a ton of varied experience with them.
One of my coops has 3 bachelors. It's amazing how calm they get when there are no hens nearby. They instantly stop that fighting BS.

@MommaJ @damselfly59

If the girls get inspired and start laying again, I'll give you eggs! We just love having the chickens around and often have extra (but probably not till late spring). We love to give them away.

@MommaJ @damselfly59

Oh, yes, let's get together again - maybe after the cold? It has to end soon, right?

I just wish @damselfly59 could be here too.🤗

@ATXJane I'll be happy for eggs. And yes, let's do lunch again. @damselfly59 do you not live in Texas?

@ATXJane me too💙 @MommaJ I live in SE WA foothills. Ton of cold. You both will have to bring me along virtually or send some pics🤗

@damselfly59 we can do that. Who cares if we look silly talking and laughing to a tablet in the restaurant...😂
@ATXJane

@MommaJ

Nooooo, a Texas girl's gotta be on some land if at all possible, especially if you love animals, which is sounds like you do.
Is there any way your husband can continue to be a happy workaholic and you can go establish your casa? Ranchette? (I love that word.)

We're currently calling our 6.9 acres Los Pollos Locos cause we love our crazy chickens.

@damselfly59

@ATXJane I've been working on getting a new entrance, it's hard getting workers. Mr. doesn't want me out in the country by myself. He's planning on a heli pad in a field incase we need Star Flight.He's so funny. But seriously,living that far away from people is scary. I want to build a tiny home to rent/give to a handyman. That way I could have all the animals and someone to help so I could travel with him at times. If 290 wasn't so bad..the traffic is just ridiculous. We'll see.
@damselfly59

@MommaJ @damselfly59

Fecal transplants have that reflexive ick factor, but the research does make some sense. But the actual mapping & understanding the biome more fully seems quite remote at this point.
However, I was recommended a book by a couple who live for health & nutrition who say this program has Changed Everything. It's Super Gut, described and available at:
drdavisinfinitehealth.com/super-gut
I ordered it today and will start reading it soon. Something's gotta be an answer!

@ATXJane @damselfly59
That sounds interesting. Please let me know if it helps.

@ATXJane It is such a hard road. My girl did not do well on meds. Made her suicidal. We tried a lot of stuff but got the most results with vitamin e of all things. But that of course isn't the answer. Just a tremendous load.
Hoping quantum computing will help with human mappng/modeling. Everyone is so unique.
So sorry on IBS. That is tough. The trial and error has to be miserable. Would love to learn from you. 💙 What is working?

@damselfly59

Not really sure. I’m still in the starting position re IBS & microbiome. My uncle just reminded me his daughter (in FL) is their go to for gut concerns. She a TCM practitioner. I’ll see if she can consult. I also started going to an acupuncturist here, so he might also be a resource.
I think we have a study group forming here!💛
