National Tatoo Story Day
Love the stories behind tats as much as the art🖤
Hope we can get some pics and stories here.
Show us your tats and stories toos Coso!

@damselfly59 I got this from Ami James’ place and became friends with him during his short lived stay in Asheville, NC. I’ll keep the story short but this was when I was a young chef, hungry to be the best and rule my world kitchen.

@Ch3fchr1sto 😍 Gorgeous ink work. Excellent choice. The lion is a leader with quiet strength til roused. It seems you acheived your goal🖤

@damselfly59 yeah nobody fuxked with me in the kitchen, especially when they saw my knife scar on my face haha.

@damselfly59 My tattoos are a mural, still incomplete about life, death, and afterlife.

It starts on my left hand with the hare on my hand, with hidden human elements pointing towards the right side, the tattoo that covers my forearm is the home I remember, and a pathway leading away, off to the mountains

On the other side we see that hare pass,fallen to a red eyed monster, only to rise again. wrapped around my right wrist is a broken shackle, representing revelation of my spiritual truth.

@damselfly59 Finally on my right hand there is a hare scarred by years, guant, and haggard, but purified by all she has endured, pointed back towards home.

@damselfly59 A couple more pictures including the protoype for the right hand.

Also the runic compass, because I need all the help I can get to keep from getting lost (It's traditionally about finding your way through bad weather)

The knuckle tats with the lines represents the transtion from this life, with the human overlay, to the next, the "bowtie" is the rune Dagaz which represents the dawn. My Lady Eostre is Goddess of the Dawn and spring

Which is mirrored by the sunrise on my right

@damselfly59 The seven pointed star is the symbol for Otherkin. Which is part of my faith path.

On either shoulder, I have the beginnings of the rest of the mural, the Orange hare will one day be framed by a sun done in anglo saxon knot work, and the black hare on my right will have chains dangling from its paws, weighted by an upturned crescent moon dripping blood.

@NiveusLepus wow. You have a great story. Is your artist the same or is it your work?

@damselfly59 Various artists, over years. I have to save up, and people come and go. The Blue OX studio in portland did my forearms, White Lotus in Vancouver did the Vegvisir and my knuckle tattoos. And an artist named Smallz did my hands... The ones on my shoulder are old, but the one on my right was done by Fossil, out of New york, who also did the seven pointed star on the underside of my wrist.

The Hare on my left shoulder was done in Lubbock 22 years ago, and I've forgotten his name.

@NiveusLepus my son is doing a full arm story in PDX. Tons of great artists. I can see the differences but the thread still overides the chapters.
Very pleased to meet you.

@damselfly59 Very nice to meet you too, groovy soul! If your son is in PDX and looking, Blue Ox and White lotus are top notch studios with great artists.

@NiveusLepus 🖤 A living story. Powerful images. A friend has a bear that is equivalent to your shackles. Congratulations. And peace on your journey to the mountains. Thank you for sharing.💗

@damselfly59 You're welcome! I love my tattoos, I refer to it as inscribing the truth upon the lie.

Thank you for listening to my very strange journey.

@NiveusLepus Thank You for sharing. I find it powerful that you defy the lie.

@damselfly59 It goes back to my very first memory. The only way I can see to be honest with the world, is if I live my truth the best I know how.

@damselfly59 This was for my 50th spiral around the sun. It is Janus, young looking forward, old looking back

@jasod
That is beautiful. I love the color with black and white. And the concept. Excellent imagery💚

@damselfly59 Thanks! It only took me 20 years to design and commit to it.

@NiveusLepus @damselfly59 Thank you! I have an amazing tattoo artist. Taking it from my sketches to skin was no small thing.

@jasod @damselfly59

Back in the long long ago, when I was doing webcomics I sat down with my artist, who did a lot of prototype sketches in her style just so I could point the tattooist in the right direction.

It's amazing watching it evolve from concept, to refined idea, to finished piece.

@NiveusLepus @damselfly59 the complexity of it blew my mind. Just forming it to my leg was a session. Then tweaking colors for ink spread etc. I have a ton of respect for ink as an art form.
