My informed delivery email shows a piece of mail I marked “return to sender”, “not at this address”, X’d out my address and dropped at the post office on Friday……is being delivered to me at home….again.

The days of automation with zero human touch before delivery….good grief.

@CherNohio idk how your postal service is setup (city vs rural) but we always drop important mail like that back into the mailbox with a post it note on it saying person doesn't live here if it's commercial advertising mail normally its recycled in an approved manner (fire or recycling bin.) Normally the mail carrier ensures it gets to where ever it needs to go (including back to who ever sent it)

@crazyuncleharris This is the first piece I’ve had delivered incorrectly in quite some time. In the past, marking it “return to sender” with the address field (my address) marked out was sufficient enough to get it back to sender. This time, I did that And took it to the post office and handed it directly to the clerk on duty which was the postmaster at the time. Apparently it got into a bin for circulation with no further action on their part other than automation for it to come back to me lol.

@crazyuncleharris
Interestingly, even though it appeared in my informed delivery email, it was not redelivered to me today. Perhaps my carrier actually read the instructions to return to sender and will do so appropriately.
