Without the association with The Beatles, which if any solo John Lennon release would have been a hit single? My best guess is “Whatever Gets You Through the Night” as is, but without Elton John being a known contributor. Thoughts?

@countZZero I find it difficult to see AM radio launching Lennon as a solo artist without The Beatles momentum behind him. However, I think 70’s FM would’ve loved him; way cooler than Van Morrison.
