I met him 25 years ago. He was stunning: charming, articulate, intelligent... And a bugfuck nuts conspiracy mongering wingnut all rolled into one.

@Charles_Hawtrey Yep. He didn't go off on vaccines or any of that, but there was more than a whiff of conspiracy about the man.
That said, he was wonderfully charming and articulate. He spoke without notes for nearly two solid hours about the estuaries in New York. Just incredible.

I read the story of how he became an anti-vaxxer, I forgot the details but believe it was within the last ten or so years.
