I took another crack at that wide field shot of Orion, too. This is just a tricky one, because the Orion Nebula is so much brighter than the Horse Head. But I think I improved this. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

For day 6 of #FunkWeek, here's a song about... music. If this doesn't at least get you moving, you might still be asleep. Now BOP THAT HEAD!

And tomorrow, the king of funk!
The jazz picks today remind me of when I first moved to the big city. I was still a kid, but really into jazz. A week after moving I was thrilled to see that Miles Davis was appearing near me. For a young trumpet player into jazz, it was a big deal. I arrived at the Agora Ballroom, SO EXCITED! Longstoryshort, I didn't know he'd morphed into an avant-garde style. 2 hours of my hero playing butt piano, yelling and (almost) never touching the trumpet taught me one thing: I like STRUCTURED jazz. 🤣

For day 5 of #FunkWeek, let's go back to the summer of 1972 for The Everyday People, with Who's Gonna Take the Weight/Who's Gonna Take the Blame (medley). C'mon now, let's groove!
“A man that hath no music in himself, nor is not mov’d with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.”
This article starts with the Shakespeare quote above, and the rest of it nearly made me cry just contemplating it. I can't imagine how different my life would have been if I had this condition (𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝐴𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑎)
I haven't said this publicly yet, so it is time... this is such a great space. Thank you, of course, to @th3j35t3r for creating and sharing this experience, and for all of the most-excellent decisions that have made CoSo what it is today... but also thanks to you, kind reader, for being who you are. My interactions have been overwhelmingly positive, and I've found many interesting and intelligent new friends.
Positivity and intelligence seem in short supply these days, but here there is wealth.

For day 4 of #FunkWeek, we're gonna go deep and check out Skull Snaps. This group was a bit of a mystery, for many years nobody really knew who the band members were. They later became one of the most sampled bands in hip hop.
Grooved for your listening pleasure, here is I Turn My Back on Love by Skull Snaps.

For day 3 of #FunkWeek, here is a band that started right here in my backyard (Denton TX - home of my alma mater and also the birthplace of DOZENS of amazing bands).
If you ever get a chance to see this band live, take it. Here is Snarky Puppy playing Lingus - We Like It Here. (perhaps closer to pure jazz, but with a definite funk lean)
And for a bonus, here is the original "Groove" Holmes playing his 1965 hit version of Misty.
