Code's eclectic music pick of the day is:

Reflexion by mouse on the keys, one of the tightest modern jazz groups you'll ever see (although they often veer into rock, rap, and odd mixed genres).

If you've never listened to Thank You Scientist, today is your day to start. Such a great band. And what better way to be initiated than this joyous performance with the Bluecoats (holy cow! those mallets at 3:27!)

Code's eclectic music pick of the day is:

Something gentle and peaceful for today, which is already stressful enough for some people (like me). Layers (album) by AAESPO. Plus, as a trumpet player I dig everything by this guy.

When I started this daily list I promised eclectic picks, so here you go. This piece by Puffy AmiYumi called アジアの純真 (Asia no Junshin) clearly has a strong ELO/Jeff Lynne influence, so in my book it's already more than halfway to greatness.

Need some help here from my fellow tech geeks and devs. I currently use a keyboard tray/sled from Herman Miller, which I love, but it's coming to end of life, and they stopped making them dozens of years ago, so they're pretty hard to find in good shape.
Lo and behold, while watching Season 1 Episode 4 of Mythic Quest at around the 6:10 mark, I spotted these beauties. Only problem? I can't seem to find them anywhere on the interwebtubez.
Anybody know who makes these?

Code's eclectic music pick of the day is:

The Jeff Lorber Fusion
Wizard Island
This is back when one of the four band members was a guy named Kenneth Gorelick. But trust me, that alone is not a reason to dismiss this great album.

Code's eclectic music pick of the day is:

He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot, by Grandaddy

If you've never listened to Grandaddy and you dig this piece, check the whole album, makes a good Sunday soundtrack. (The Sophtware Slump).

Although getting harder to find, I love bookstores. And whenever I go to a bookstore I always end my visit with the science fiction section. It's my favorite. Much like saving the icing on a cupcake for last.

For the last few decades, when I am in that section, I am always sure to check anything from Benford, Bear, Egan, Kube-McDowell, Sheffield, Reynolds and Vinge.

Which is why I am sad today.

Greg Bear has passed on.

Rest in peace, Greg, and thank you for your stories.

Code's eclectic music pick of the day (if the Beatles had formed more recently and leaned a bit more metallic):

BTW, the lyrics to this song have a callout to 'jester' 😃

Code's eclectic music pick of the day (the drummer here is obviously some kind of superhuman... for the musicians among us, try to follow the time signature switches from 11/8 to 9/8 to 23/16 (!) and many others, all in one song)

Code's eclectic music pick of the day (and if you don't think you like it at first, give this at least 90 seconds, it completely changes character 2 or 3 times - it's a worthy gem)

Hmm. Posting not working for me for the last few hours... getting a 403 error. Have cleared cache, cleared cookies, tried from a completely different machine (different geographic locale) and not working.

Code's eclectic music pick of the day (from one of the most interesting artists I've encountered this year - check out the entire album Ludi):

My opinion: Although we do have (and still face) many problems, America was already great.
