I used to think that all it would take for republicans to start supporting gun safety measures (including better screening) would be for some of them to experience an active event. Maybe getting pinned down in a Walmart, crying and screaming, clutching their loved ones while relieving themselves on the floor.
I can see now that I was naïve.
