This recipe is from the 40s, when even staple pantry items were scarce. The marker notations are the high altitude adjustments I make @ 6000ft. I made the dough yesterday and put it in the fridge until baking time. This makes 54 cookies.

@tgraph52 I make these often. They're one of my faves...

And my inherited recipe card looks strangely similar. :-)

@codeWhisperer

hahaha

I had 2 little boxes of recipes my mom had gathered from all over.. relatives, magazines, etc

I copied out the ones I liked and use and then passed those on to my brother.

I can find the ones I use most in the box because of all the spills on those cards. 😜

Same. I know it's a little silly, but your post actually made me a bit weepy (in a good way, though).

Here's mine. It was last rewritten in 1982 by my mom when the prior one was falling apart. She gave it to me (along with several other of my favorites) when I moved out as a teen. As you can see it was handed down to her from "Aunt Edna".

I couldn't bear to simply rewrite (or type) and then discard the old copy, so I had it laminated about 12 years ago. πŸ™‚
