Alina Habba claimed that the judge who oversaw Trump’s defamation trial has a conflict of interest and that it may warrant overturning writer E. Jean Carroll’s $83.3M jury award.
In a letter to the federal court in Manhattan, Habba alleges that Judge Lewis Kaplan’s prior working relationship with Carroll attorney Roberta Kaplan, who is not related to him, constitute a conflict in interest.
