We still aren’t sure it’s her heart but if it is most likely not major. We were sent home with lasix and we are to continue the antibiotics. The vet said she would call on Friday to see how she’s doing and if she’s better and doing well enough we will do another x-ray later on to check the heart and lungs. The vet is trying to do this so it doesn’t bankrupt me and told me I could make payments if needed which is a relief because so far I’ve spent almost $500.
@cjcrew You have a jewel of a veterinarian. Most clinics are now owned by corporations that don't care if it bankrupts you. Hoping for a good outcome.❤️
@sazemisery Yes I do have a good vet. I’m fortunate that way. My last bet was also that way.
When I first moved back here I was taking them to a different vet but wasn’t overly happy with him. He had a nice, shiny new building and 4 other clinics, every visit was at least $300. I switched to this vet and have gotten to know her well enough, plus she works with a rescue in one of the small towns near here. She’s also a customer at the station.
@sazemisery That had to be miserable for you. I had an awesome vet in Michigan. She and others in her major at MSU got surgery experience by voluntarily spaying and neutering animals for the Humane Society when I worked there. She and I hit it off when I first took my dog to her after she graduated and set up her clinic. I could talk to her and she listened. I’m getting there with my current vet, she’s been good to me and my beasties.
@sazemisery Its hard to do vet work as a personal operation and still pay off your student loans is my guess. It’s sad though, no one wins in a corporate setting except the owners. Those working there don’t make more money and those who need care can’t afford it any longer. My vet told me on Friday when I first brought Arya in that while she doesn’t off it to everyone she would let me make payments. She didn’t want me putting off getting treatment because I didn’t have the money.
@cjcrew Make sure your vet gets a nice thank you gift. You don't know how just a small gesture of gratitude builds moral in a clinic.
Ha, and btw, GoT fan?😉 Arya is my favorite character. I have a t-shirt that has the dagger and says
"NOT TODAY"
@sazemisery Great idea, in fact I was thinking of baking them cookies.
@sazemisery And yes, Arya is named for that Arya, that’s why it’s spelled that way. I wanted her to have a strong name since she started life by being abandoned. She lives up to it too, just ask her sister.
@cjcrew The vet that owned the clinic was great but he was at retirement age and agreed to stay on one year once he had sold it. He regretted that decision. I retired at the same time he did. He was a great veterinarian and I learned a lot in the 7 years I worked there. I still sub for my vet tech friends when they go on vacation and the clinic is short-handed.
