So, going to see “the lights” tonight with my best friend. The Kwanis Club does a huge light display outside of town, it’s become our tradition since before I moved back here, when I’d come down to visit family at Christmas. She and I have been friends since the 7th grade, 53 years. Pretty good record, we still enjoy each other’s company.
@cjcrew That's great! My best friend of 35 years is 170 miles away. We see each other a few times a year and talk or text daily. We still laugh about stupid stuff.

My sister-in-law once told me after watching my friend and I interact, that we are almost like one person when we’re speaking. We play off each other so we’ll, even all these years later we can still talk and laugh about things that easily amused us as dumb junior high school kids. We were each other’s safe place growing up, neither of us had a safe environment.
