What if, instead of geography, districts/constituencies/ridings were grouped by common interests or occupations? What if people could form their own, non-geographical 'corporations' (on any basis) and get representation for them? What if you could pick a rising politician and add your vote to theirs, no matter what part of the country you came from?
We don't consider these things, not because they're undemocratic or can't be done, but because we just don't think about them.
