I’m conflicted
I’ve been collaborating on a song with an influential entertainer over the past couple weeks and he pitched a verse that’s very similar to something I’ve heard from local talent.
I dunno that it’s intentional. It’s possibly subliminal, but it’s so close that the publisher would suffer.
I could easily ask the question straight-forward, but that could cost me the co-write. Or, I could persuade a tweak and try to assert a different path.
Honestly, I’m not sure how to handle this.
@barrett Tell $artist what it sounds like, and suggest a mod. It's your ass too if your name is on it. It's hella hard to ID where a melody or a string of words came from, and it could be subliminal, coincidence or deliberate choice, though I doubt anyone with stature would take that risk knowingly.
