I have questions about these mugshots. Why are so many of them bad, overlighted, bleached out? Also, why aren't they holding nameplates with booking numbers?
They don't care about the aesthetics, and in big cities, they use cameras that put the booking information right onto the digital photo.
It's a lot faster and easier to type stuff in with a keyboard than to press plastic letters into a sign.

And it's not a professional camera studio for the first. Meant to just get an image of the person for potential wanted posters and news. Alternately, they really don't want to photograph them in "a positive light."
