You can start busting out the popcorn. The verified $8 Twitter accounts are now causing what we lawyers call tortious behavior. Take for example, this tweet below.
If someone KNOWINGLY and INTENTIONALLY, FOR $, allows and enables someone else to commit fraud/misappropriate a corporation like @LillyPad's name + likeness, then that someone (Muskrat) may be liable to said corporation.
@carmen I love following lawyers! Hi!
@carmen
I smell class action lawsuit fumes coming over the horizon.
@carmen If you see something, say something. Not sure if FBI is on this platform, but if you have direct information, report tips at tips.fbi.gov
@JosephSabol The FTC is already paying attention. Plus, the recording this week of Musk’s Twitter Space meeting with advertisers includes his admission of allowing fake accounts to sprout with the promise to remove once discovered. That’s damning.
@carmen I bellieve (I'm not a Laywer, nor will I pretend to be) this is Tortious Interference and Tortious Interference with contract in some cases. We're going to need a bigger poop scoop on this one.
