@thewebrecluse *safe hugs* I am still living with chronic pain due to degenerative arthritis with spurring and a slightly slipped disk in my lumbar spine. Not only is the pain depressing, but so is people’s “just power through it” attitudes. I completely understand why you’re still triggered. Have you tried focusing on slowing your breathing and slowly relaxing your head, neck, shoulders, arms, torso, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, ankles, and feet while breathing slowly?
@caaddison88 Everyone has a different experiences with #chronicpain ... but my favorite are the dismissive people who talk about "that one terrible headache" they had or whatever nonsense. You can't explain to someone what it's like to have horrible, body stopping pain nearly every minute of every day for 20 years ... there's no communicating what that depression is like, that hopelessness, or worse just realizing this is your life and resigning to suffering silently and alone. I just gave up.
@caaddison88 @thewebrecluse *raises hand* also chronic pain person. Mines more nerve and muscle spasm related from fibromyalgia and a disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I work in home care so I run into a lot of pain patients and having been through the ordeals myself def helps me understand and get the point across to their providers if there's an issue there. Not on opioids since it doesn't really work on my type of pain.
@caaddison88 Meditation is a huge component to my life so yes, absolutely. I will be doing some meditations and stretching shortly. I have a routine I go through when it comes to pain management ... it did very little for 20+ years of chronic pain I had prior to my surgery. That was just .... whatever ... there was no managing that. But nowadays it does help for things like anxiety, backaches, even headaches. And YES, people who don't have chronic pain shouldn't offer ANY words in my opinion.
