So am I reading this right?

Discord and Reddit are in some murky legal ground now. The discord server is shut down for this group b/c they violated the TOS but that is unclear.

Reddit is trying to monitor it too.

Might there be some court cases about TOS and freedom of speech etc.

The U.S. Constitution and many laws could not have anticipated this!

To quote Spock: "Fascinating"

@_Ms_J

Private companies aren't Congress and don't owe anyone "freedom of speech".

Every ToS in existence amounts to "We can shut you down any time we like, for any reason we want or for no reason at all."

"Whaddaya want for nothin'?"

@mcfate So why would Discord shut down the group that was buying Gamestop stock? Was there some sort of legal exposure? I get that private company can do what they want.

@_Ms_J @mcfate it is an interesting legal concept. They do have civil legal exposure when they became aware of legally questionable behavior using their facilities and fail to act.
