Seriously I really dont like trivia games.

Dear god, not again.
Walk into a different restaurant tonight to wait out the traffic and before we can leave . . . we find out it's trivia night.
Can I please have a night out where I dont have to spill my brains all over the table to keep my wife happy.

Help! I'm trapped in a trivia contest that I didn't know was going to be at the restaurant we decided to go for dinner.

Combining a couple threads across my feed I have to wonder how many dissidents in China are going to end up missing with coronavirus as the reason given.
And how long into an outbreak in the US before anti-Trump folks suffer a similar fate.
Where is my pessimism coming from?

Hating the fact that the bad feeling I had about today ended up being a work emergency that started at 3PM EST and *just* ended. Nothing like a surprise 16+ hour Friday.
So anyone else wish Microsoft killed MSDTC 10 years ago?

Rain rain (and tornado watch) go away
I've seen inside cause no one wants to go out today.
And the universe has taken away the last TV show I used to watch today.
Maybe I'll go shoot an evil space alien in some video game.
Also, realizing the 3 day weekend starts NEXT Friday sucks.

The feeling when you run to the store cause its convenient and buy a few things you need and snacks. And when you get home you realize you bought the snacks everyone else likes and not what you like. And now you're feeling snacky.

I just turn SOTU and I think it was less than 5 words before I needed to turn the TV off.
I feel as flat as he sounds.

13 hour day because of stupid Word documents. Why after 22 years am I still fighting with broken Word documents?

A thought kicked off by the annual discussion about people wishing the day after the Super Bowl was a US holiday.
In its best year, only a third if the US population watches the game. And right now I'm sitting here wondering about the people who choose to do something other than watch the game. I have to wonder what wonderful things am I missing because grew up in US culture that treats this as an almost religious event.
Weird time to be thinking about opportunity costs, but here I am.

Sometimes I miss the things that happen in Pennsylvania.

I'm just going to cover my eyes and shake my head. No particular reason.

Reading William Gibson's Agency. Amused that in the plot was a discussion around the budget to cover the "illegalities" of an event before it happens.
And the worst part is it seems perfectly reasonable conversation. Wondering if I've been a corporate serf too long. . .

Looking at the window it is just starting to snow.
Question: as the snow falls, why do we say the snowfall is picking up when the snow is falling down?

Today, tomorrow and tonight
In that order

Great start to the week. Work calls me at 03:33 for a problem that started 33 hours earlier and the group who actually owns the problem fixed it in the 10 minutes it took me to boot my laptop.
And now the whole house is up with me because the phone rang.
Happy Monday.

Turns out it was VBFD doing training in a hotel. So no actual fire.
