Family (chosen 👍 💗) is different than familial relations (not chosen 🚫)

This is a really great concrete analogy for someone like me who struggled until very recently with the expectations society tells us we should have of our families of origin.

I am not going to waste time or energy being mad at a person who doesn't have oranges 🍊 because they are a hardware store 🛠️. That doesn't make any sense.

Keeping myself at peace ☮️ for my chosen loved 💖 ones is a much wiser use of my time and energy.

: My direct, serial #experience over decades is that it doesn't matter if consistency is your #love language. It will be greatly appreciated initially because it is indeed rare, and then it will be taken for granted and become boring to whomever you are with, regardless of how much they say it won't early on. That's true in all #relationships, not just love ones. Eventually they'll leave because they'll get bored/complacent.
