Rest in peace, Paul Di'Anno. Those early Maiden albums were formational for me. I remember not being able to afford Killers so I bought the cheaper Maiden Japan live EP instead when I was 11. Still my fave version of those early songs.

Any whisky folks on this here site? Arran is always a fave distillery of mine. This one is nicknamed the Bodega and is a delicious sherry cask offering bottled at cask strength. Punchy and fruity. Also quite well priced.

Dozer's return to the scene after 10 years was one of my faves in metal for 2023. This release came out 18 months ago now - you sleep on it? If so, check it out.

'Drifting in The Endless Void' has a matured sound that expands beyond traditional stoner rock, but still with loads of fuzzed-up heaviness. A remarkable return for Dozer.

Emma Ruth Rundle is an absolute force of nature. I just love this Audiotree/Far Out live production for Heaven. The sound is incredible and the venue perfectly suits the tone of the song.

"The only church I’ll ever know
Is in the Earth, the ground below me says
Come home now, you’re done"

I've posted before about her collab with Thou, which is also incredible. She's such a versatile artist.

I just love this track by The Veils. Finn grapples with inner demons and confronts the darker aspects of human nature. There's an intensity & urgency in the music & vocals, adding to the dramatic, haunting atmosphere of the song.

Few collaborations have the gravity that Emma Ruth Rundle and Thou have.

"I want to step into the armor of another, stronger
I want to look once through the eyes of someone good"

Bloody massive.

Another gorgeous morning here. Getting cold though, frost on the windows and mist on the lake.

End of the work day here. Getting into the seasonal spirit with some Green Druid. My god this band is good. Crushing riffs, elements of black , and faster tempos than typical bands. This track is amazing. greendruid.bandcamp.com/track/

Any Kylesa fans on here? When they broke up Laura Pleasants started The Discussion. If you're a fan of Kylesa, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, Slowdive etc this album is up your alley. Dreamy shoegaze, indie rock and post punk.

Tonight may be a good opportunity to see both the northern lights and comet c/2023 a3 where I am in Halifax. Hoping the sky stays clear.

Any fans here? On this lazy, dreary Monday I'm revisiting one of my fave releases from last year by Boston's Morne - full of delicious slow & crusty doom.

I'm new here and figured I'd jump in with this pre-dawn photo of Halifax Harbour from last week - part of my morning commute.
