@bfgreen Our primary backup is a home cloud server, with its own secondary backup, and we have various cloud stuff for secondary backups.
We no longer consider anything in the offsite (google, dropbox, etc.) cloud a system of record. It's secondary offsite backup in case the local stuff is stolen or damaged.
@AskTheDevil I'm working on a local/cloud NAS leveraging #raspberrypi
@bfgreen I was _going_ to use a pi, originally, but discovered I could buy an old NUC with way more utility for a fraction of the price. I'd love to tinker with a pi, but not at the scalper prices of the last couple years. My husband uses a pi to manage his 3d printer setup, and it's adorable and I like it.
@AskTheDevil Right!! raspberrypi used to be $12 now it’s ridiculous. My favorite use is as a pizero DNS block hole.
@bfgreen It feels like the ones tiny enough to get power over ethernet might be fun or practical in low-profile, low-supervision settings.
@bfgreen I have three external HD’s all of various storage space. They are used mainly for back up and to store around 6,000 films. I think enough depends on the person and how important the data is to save.
