From Bob Dylan (16 minute in length),

loyalty across the years. This is an unreleased song we recorded a while

/ht Twitter: Rhys Tranter - @RhysTranter: "But there are not two laws, that was the next thing I thought I understood, not two laws, one for the healthy, another for the sick, but one only to which all must bow, rich and poor, young and old, happy and sad."

I noticed that the Roche chairman's quote on NPR this AM mentioned test kits ready for US market. *sigh* "Market", not people. When capitalism is more important than life and health. Be well, folks.

Existential Comics - @existentialcoms: That is because the free market is not based on rational self interest, it is based on irrational self interest. It is rational self interest for everyone to work together to overcome a crisis; it is irrational self interest for everyone to cut their loses, deepening the crisis.

Sam Geraci - @AmFamSamGeraci: The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that dogs cannot get Covid-19. Dogs can be released from quarantine. I guess you could say that "WHO let the dogs out"

They haven't distributed tests because they bungled them. They bungled the tests because there's no competent management. There's no competent management because Trump chose appointees based on loyalty. He used this criterion because he's corrupt. Also because he's incompetent.

The most troubling sentence from @PaulHRosenberg interview with sociologist Andrew Whitehead (bit.ly/38gYEIi) is this one: "... [it is] difficult to have a pluralistic democracy, which should be founded on compromise, when ... Christian nationalists desire their way or nothing." Where is there room for discussion?

Debate time, so this is apropos: for the next Q about universal health care costs? This analysis provides insight (it will save $$ & lives) bit.ly/39PjTlS (login req’d for free access)

/ht @yourauntemma for a link to this 2016 Anis Shivani essay that clarifies, for me, the inhumane and un-democratic aspects of neoliberal economics that are now embedded in how we think about political and economic realities. truthout.org/articles/our-neol

"When bad things happen they become news, and it is easy to feel like our basic human nature is to kill or to rape or to be corrupt. Then we can feel that there is not much hope for our future.

All of these things happen, but they are unusual, which is why they become news...every day, people receive immense caring. But it is so common that none of it becomes news. We take it for granted."

Satan: "Welcome to Hell Mr. Torvalds"
Linus: "Why have I been condemned to hell?"
S: "oh you're not condemned, God just said I could borrow you so you could help me out."
L: "So I can leave Hell and go to Heaven"
S: "Of course! you are one of the good guys, I just need your assistance"

A followup to @disorderedworld's Tweet is this excerpt from Albert Camus 1946 essay 'Neither Victims nor Executioners' : "A man with whom one cannot reason is a man to be feared."

Our actions need to recognize with whom we are dealing. Being aware is all I have right now.
