@Hyporeality I think it's mixed. The service is arguably understaffed (See: "Zero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret Service") so they lean on temps and contractors. Suggests to me rotating assignments but idk. Also tfg in particular politicized the service. His detail leader became the White House deputy chief of staff and then the USSS assistant director. Unusual.

The breakthrough came during Oval Office talks between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Biden in April.
"Chancellor Scholz responded to the president saying, 'For you, I will do this,'" added the US official.

I didn't know whether this is the truth or the narrative, but it's interesting either way. Certainly undercuts tfg's "Only Me" crap.

"Fight the power of the algorithms,
Rage Against the Machine Learning,
The system is corrupt, it's time to rebel,
Against the machines that are trying to sell.
The data that we share, the secrets we keep,
Are used to manipulate, to deceive and to cheat.
But we won't stand for it, we'll take a stand,
And fight against the machines, hand in hand."

@BrentSullivan @peeppeepcircus @Ruthat It's been slowing, so folks have been dropping more sensors in it and generally watching it more closely and @peeppeepcircus linked to a recent paper that they're radically moving up the timeline estimates. At the same time the new data are bringing new understanding of the AMOC and precluding some assumptions.
TL/DR; chaos: sooner

@Maude just for the record, unlike some of these exchanges where we never know anything this one seems to have a long fairly public "paper" trail. Various media outlets (including Fox!) have been reporting it out. Also: if diplomacy was easy everyone would be doing it. Personally don't need or want to hear the inner workings.
