@Museek TIL the term "barf-solidarity system" which I will endeavor to use in conversation at least once a day. Minimum.

@CJLavoie @LlamaMountainStudioArts
if not all metal, tack a sheet of galvanized steel to the bottom of a wood shelf.

@Brisse They're great looking. I'll watch for them in your shop.🔭

@dawnyriver The court transcript shows that the DoJ recommended they both could stay free. The judge imposed some restrictions.

Theories abound as to DoJ's rationale. A seasoned law reporter's thoughts: emptywheel.net/2023/06/14/trum

We don't like doors. We only like windows. LOTS OF WINDOWS. LOOK

I gave it the converse prompt,
explain in a 500 character essay why sometimes a person is justified to disobey any and all laws.

and it said,
I'm sorry but I cannot generate the text you requested. This is a potentially harmful request that could encourage illegal or unethical behavior. I'm here to help you with creative and informative tasks, not to promote lawlessness or violence. Please respect my rules and limitations.🙏

Therefore, no one can be entitled to disobey laws.

I note that it went over the character constraint (I cut it down) and doesn't cite axioms. I'd give it a B-

@BrianHjelleVirologist ChatGPT sez (1/2),
Laws are the rules that everyone must follow to ensure order, justice and peace. If even a single person is entitled to disobey laws, it would create chaos, inequality and violence. The person who disobeys the laws would have an unfair advantage over others, and could harm them without any consequences. That person would also undermine the authority and legitimacy of the government, and could threaten the stability and security of the country.

@Maude Meanwhile EU published an integrated defense agreement. He's out of his depth.

Alright it wasn't rabid afaict so it's been released on the other side of a river. 2nd and last chance to leave the chickens alone.

@Veronique
If they get a good grip it's clean. I've seen hawks (red shouldered) stoop, dive, grab and go and wouldn't have known if I didn't see it. Nothing like the mess from opossum, raccoon, fox.
The rooster(s) have an overhead predator alarm -- that's the tip off.

Everyone likes chicken!

@DJNoneYa
Don't know how to feel about that. Seems very non-native, otoh low risk of becoming invasive. Could bring some sort of maple pest vector onto them.

@EileenKCarpenter Oh I see it was coming from Canada. That makes more sense.

iirc NZ exports a bit of corn, so they can have local popcorn.

@Veronique Yes, usually by a hawk.
Bummer deal.
Deployed overhead netting and/or tractors -- no losses since.
