Good morning, CoSo!

Just a few minutes I stepped out to take out the garbage and I spotted the full Moon sinking over to the west.

Since I happened to have a pair of hand binoculars on me (because why not?) I stopped on my way back to take a look.

I was struck by how clear all its features were, even in the dawn light. At this time of day, it's tilted a bit to the right, with Mare Frigoris extending from 1 to 3 o'clock.

The rays of Tycho crater show up especially well, and Aristarchus crater, between Mare Imbrium and Oceanus Procellarum is very bright. Details on all the lunar maria were very clear.

I always thought a full moon wasn't particularly good for viewing, as the features don't cast long shadows, but I think part of it is also that the full moon at night is just too bright for dark-adjusted eyes. In the morning light, viewing everything on it was quite easy.

@DavidSalo went out looking for the comet last night and spent more time (burning my retinas) staring at the Moon
