@Beanc Er I wouldn't. Fascia and any soffit then gutters. How would you get the fascia up there working behind the gutters?
Let me rephrase this....I worded it poorly.
What are the issues with not installing fascia at all, since i plan on installing gutters.
@Beanc @TrueBloodNet Not an expert in this and can't see the condition of your roof. Don't see a big disadvantage as long as the roof covering (shingle? metal?) overlaps the gutter and you keep the gutters tidy (not like mine!) so water doesn't pool. Suggest that while they're up there they check the roof edge condition and add flashing if it's not present. That might be n/a depending on the roof. All this depends on climate too - snow/ice?
@Beanc @TrueBloodNet flashing is just thin metal, can be aluminum, slipped under the roof shingle and bent over the edge. Protects the roof edge a bit and helps keep water from rotting the sheathing there. Could instead be an actual drip edge -- strip of formed metal designed for this purpose.
@Beanc @TrueBloodNet yeah, think so, not experienced much with this. Fascia will help with some diagonal precipitation I guess?
@b4cks4w @Beanc Flashing is great, but by itself usually isn't sealed I had to install additional pieces of flashing that went behind a double gutter area because the bottom gutter would splash up water onto the underside of my soffit when snow had become ice then more snow was melting which ended up leading to the water dripping in my kitchen ceiling.

@b4cks4w @Beanc Damn repair guy didn't want to listen to me about what I wanted put there and why and kept trying to sell me a roof repair. "Nothing wrong with the roof dude, do I what I want or you're fired."
He did it under close supervision. That was 12 years ago, no problems since. I hate it when men think I don't know shit. My dad was a building inspector and treated me like I was his only son.
I don't know modern stuff or code though. LOL
@TrueBloodNet @Beanc Snow and ice are a whole 'nother level.
@b4cks4w @TrueBloodNet ahh thanks. I’ll discuss/confirm with contractor included. It seems that would address the drip issues fascia is supposed to help with?
