So I'm going to try my luck on here, (and maybe just maybe if this gets boosted enough I'll be lucky)... Does anyone have or know where I can get a copy of the English edition for Simona Kossak's The Bialowieza Forest Saga? I've tried almost all avenues for a few years now... Also considered trying to learn Polish to read the more readily available original edition.

@Amaranth I don't know, but would you accept a fan (amateur) translation if one exists?

@Amaranth nevermind, I see that the publisher issued a official translation. I recommend searching worldcat.org, enter you local library. They can possibly inter library loan you a copy, and/or have access via Libby/Overdrive

@b4cks4w Yes, I've already tried all those avenues with no luck. I also at one point had reached out to the publisher to see if they were going to reprint the edition.

@Amaranth I see now, it's in Abu Dhabi and Warsaw. My local university has a Polish print version.
I'll reach out and look in some rare book niches.

@Amaranth Put in a standing search that will go out to collectors and stores until it's filled.
Also appears to be possible to borrow the ebook? I think. Working on it.

@Amaranth Quick update on the book. There is a copy in DC at the Library of Congress, so you can go there and read it in the reading room.

I'm having trouble accessing the Polish digital library, but will keep trying. When I get back to civilization I can VPN to Poland, might have better luck. But it also could be an issue on their end, apparently their platform is due to be upgraded by October 1.

@Amaranth
Alright, got into the library catalog in Poland but the ebook is not available. There are multiple print copies in Poland available through interlibrary loan, and international loans are not unheard of, but my two cents, your better bet is make a pilgrimage to the Library of Congress in DC. Well worth a visit.

@b4cks4w I don't think I'll be able to make it to DC anytime soon.... And be able to take two or three weeks to sit there and read the book ..

@Amaranth I hear that. If/when I hear back from the rare book request I'll be sure to let you know.

One more thing to try: 3 people at LibraryThing have it. It could be possible to work something out with them?

Looks like a very interesting book!

@b4cks4w Thank you for this! I will try this out, and I'll report back if I have success with this or not.

@b4cks4w update: I looked at the Library thing. I notice a Killarney books has a copy. Funny story: when I was doing this search over a year ago I had somehow found that the Killarney Books in Ireland had the book. I had at that time sent them an email, but didn't receive a response. I guess I can try again 🤣 I had also reached out to the Polish publisher to ask if they were going to do a reprint. They had said no.

@b4cks4w According to Google maps, that store is permanently closed.
