As a former coastal denizen I don't usually look forward to hurricanes but pecans are dropping early because the trees are stressed and c'mon Idalia and Franklin let's gooooo

Welp. The storm dropped a lot of water, which is appreciated. But also shook off a lot more pecans. They're not developed enough to ever eat.
Not a great year here for stone fruits or nuts. 🤷

@b4cks4w our kumquats don’t look good. Dry, hot spring, super hot summer; loads of fruit but they are small and dry. My marmalade making not looking good

This might hurt any local wildlife who depend on nuts to get them through the winter. 😔

@Agatha Yeah. Looks like the squirrels are tearing into the fallen nuts right now -- lot of bite marks. But that's all it is, bites, because the meat hasn't formed yet.
It's normal to lose some right around now, but from what I can see it's a big "2nd drop". And I don't see much left up there.
