WTF did Twitter put ALL OF TWITTER behind log in?
public accessibility is one of their set-apart features & part of the social contract there
was already infuriating/frustrating enough when they moved Twitter search behind log in
1. not logging in b/c I left in October for obvious & important reasons
2. no outside access means less people see their cursed ads — isn’t impressions the point but w/e
3. may everyone who lingered on Twitter now realize there is no public service left/leave asap
@jsto I admit this is a surprise, but fuck that hellscape. I’ve been content without it.
It does however mean that when @th3j35t3r posts bird site links, I won’t know what’s up. I mean, I don’t usually know what’s up, but now even less so.

PSA:
Libredirect add-on (firefox) plus Nitter helps for that use case.
The add-on intercepts Twitter and other social media site requests and goes instead to Nitter/Invidious/etc.
It will suggest Nitter instances or you can bring your own.
Hope it helps
@jsto Yeah, I think Nitter is distributed, so multiple instances, and I presume each one provides authentication as needed. I should check!
Caveat: some instances are better than others, had to try a few.
Anyway it works, see:

@jsto dangit the nitter links are failing. Fingers crossed it's a glitch, but have a bad feeling...
@b4cks4w I noticed just before you sent this but I was too new to it to know if that was something that happens sometimes or likely to indicate a change. we shall watch together
@b4cks4w I do see!
