Just read this thread by Robert Wise on The Bird App https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1587230127783649281.html and it discusses how being acutely aware of Black sufferage strengthens others to stay and fight in an overtly hostile environment that will probably never become rectified.
The comments are interesting too because they highlight the dilemma of standing your ground for justice vs. not making well-loved accounts into a commodity to only further promote the hate that the hostile environment they participate in creates.
@artisanrox The uptick in trolls coming after me on the bird app in the last two days alone is downright scary. I’m usually not worth their time.
@artisanrox I read it earlier today and feelnhe totally missed the mark. I'm not leaving because it is too hard or too toxic. I'm leaving because I want Musk to flame out and crash. We vote with our money and our time too. Choosing to leave is about voting with our time.
@Sheilby24 yep, and that's exactly what the comments discuss. The most loved accounts leaving will make the biggest dents in the bottom line. With them and advertisers cautioys about being there, collapse is inevitable.
That's what this stupid Bird App BS is doing. Polarizizing and forcing people to choose, while further making the app into a platform for hate speech.
