After finishing my tour of duty (Navy), San Diego & school, A week before I left for Brasil, I drove my cycle. I was broadsided at an intersection, and the car sped away. It totaled the bike, but I was okay. The picture is off the web, it's not mine, but it's identical. I loved it.๐Ÿ’”

@apetrusk Your experience is exactly why I stopped riding and sold my motorcycle after our second son was born.

I was lucky. I did have a cracked toe. It was 44 years ago in September. San Diego has better roads and people are more aware of cycles there, but someone running a red light, it's one of those "oh well" situations where a person is just at the wrong place and wrong time. Yes, I don't ride anymore, especially in Colorado. Gravel, potholes, and drivers who don't look out for bikes are plenty of reasons not to ride a cycle.

@apetrusk I had numerous and some very scary near misses over the years I was riding in Texas. People on motorcycles are invisible to a small but very dangerous segment of the 4-wheeled driving community.
