Folks may perceive I am dismissing the heartbreak of the election outcome too readily.
I am not. I am deeply upset by events, the betrayal of the news media, the sale of our nation to a few billionaires. I’m angry that countless people will suffer more losses of freedom and safety. I’m scared.
So I am in a “both/and” mindset. This is horrible AND I am living the best I can right now. People I love are fading. I don’t want to miss today. I choose to live and love. No surrender.
I was watching Broadchurch a few nights ago and one of the main characters is facing the tremendous loss of her brother. And her boyfriend makes her a “happy place” where she can just go, listen to music, enjoy the lights, dance around. She was sick of being forced to stay at home, both sad but also -expected- to be sad. Sometimes we just need a safe “happy place” to be ourselves. However that manifests. I feel that way about CoSo.
