@whonat @altucker
Players and sports teams got too greedy.
In HS when MLB went to cable I refused to pay to watch. Instead i listened on radio. When they went to exclusive subscription & imposed local blackout periods I stopped listening because as a college student I couldnt afford to pay high cable prizes.
During the pandemic I cancelled cable, as did millions of ppl who lost jobs. my cable is still off. For many gaming became more fun. Now 1/3 of home games are back on free tv 😀😂🤣
NFL failing to read the room as always.
@altucker They're going to continue the stream grab and people will pay. The model has been in place already and it will become the norm. My prediction.
@SaltyVeruca you're right. It's inevitable.
@altucker It's a shame but here we are.
@SaltyVeruca @altucker Prime having exclusive rights to Thursday is one thing, but a playoff game? To the folks behind that executive decision I say, the timing of an experiment conducted on the population says a thing about your values. Also, Rome’s Colosseum was built to appease the people. Holding a game there and saying only the folks that pay, or can afford, this monthly tax can attend. It’s just gonna piss off some folks.
@clong @altucker Didn't say it wouldn't piss people off but not enough or not the right ones. Playoff games aren't even part of Sunday Ticket. Normal ticket prices aren't affordable for mainstream fans anyway yet people pay exorbitant amounts to attend games complete with parking prices, concessions,etc. It's what the market will bear and football culture here is an impossible boot.
@SaltyVeruca @altucker I get ya. There’s a budget I enforce on Only Fans too.
@SaltyVeruca @altucker and a g*d d**am free trial would’ve been a brilliant f**king idea.
@SaltyVeruca @altucker Hail Mary x 3.
@SaltyVeruca @clong thanks for the follow up. Any mention of Peacock?
@SaltyVeruca @clong I just read that the Eagles opener in Brazil is being broadcast exclusively by Peacock. God, that's annoying.
@altucker
yep, baseball is back on free tv in NY because 60% of households will not pay hundreds of dollars for a dedicated sports channel briadcast of just one team
