Tonight in 1960 — THE BUGS BUNNY SHOW debuted on ABC in primetime.

It moved to Sat mornings in 1962 and aired until 2000 on ABC/CBS — the longest-running morning children's program in network TV history.

It was an honor to moderate a panel at the Sleepy Hollow Film Festival celebrating DARK SHADOWS and the centenary of star Jonathan Frid (who played Barnabas Collins).

I interviewed cast members Donna Wandrey, Marie Wallace, and Sharon Lentz on stage, joined by Mary O'Leary, producer/director of DARK SHADOWS AND BEYOND — THE JONATHAN FRID STORY.

Mary and I worked with Jonathan Frid in the 1980s, so it was a real full-circle moment.

A NIGHT AT THE OPERA (1935) and A DAY AT THE RACES (1937) are on Tubi if you'd like to celebrate Allan Jones's b'day.

He was a better Zeppo than Zeppo.

Farewell to John Lasell (1928-2024) — an unsung hero of DARK SHADOWS.

As parapsychologist Dr. Peter Guthrie, he battled the spooky soap's first monster — Laura Collins, a phoenix — before vampire Barnabas Collins arrived.

He was also a familiar face for 25 years on shows like THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy are so hot for each other in WOMAN OF THE YEAR (1942) it’s almost startling.

Watching on the big screen at
Film Forum NYC really reminded me of how hot their chemistry could be.🔥

The Jupiter 2 launched on this date in 1997.

John and Maureen Robinson led a crew that included their children (Judy, Penny, and Will), Don West, and saboteur Dr. Zachary Smith.

Farewell to Mitzi Gaynor (1931-2024) actress, singer, dancer, Vegas headliner and TV variety show queen!

I met her in 2014 (with Bob Mackie, costume designer for her unforgettable TV specials) and she was larger than life.

“Gimme a second to primp!" she said when I took this picture. ♥️

If you'd like to remember the wonderful Mitzi Gaynor (1931-2024), SOUTH PACIFIC (1958) is on Tubi, Pluto, Prime and Kanopy.

All 6 seasons of THE BOB NEWHART SHOW are now streaming on Amazon Prime.

But 7 episodes are only available for digital purchase, because everything has to be complicated.

IT SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU (1954) w/ Jack Lemmon and Judy Holliday is now streaming (exclusively) on Prime.

If you're looking for a deft satire of people who are famous for being famous, George Cukor and Garson Kanin did it 70 years ago.

I saw the 4K restoration of THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1932) tonight at the Quad Cinema in NYC.

Boris Karloff’s second film w/ James Whale (between FRANKENSTEIN and BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN) is delightfully idiosyncratic and atmospheric — and features a stellar cast.

So nice to see it looking better than ever!

The THIN MAN films w/ William Powell and Myrna Loy are coming to Warner Archive Blu-ray Nov 12 in a 6-disc set.

And it's less than half the price of buying the 6 films separately ($52.53 vs $110) on Amazon.

All new restorations!

Tonight in 1973 — KOJAK debuted as a weekly series on CBS.

Emmy winner Telly Savalas played Theo Kojak for 17 years: in a 1973 pilot film, TV series (1973-78) and 7 TV movies (1985-90).

Purchased at the Scholastic Book Fair c. 1978.

Best $1.25 I ever spent.
