@Heucuva8 Thank you for posting this. I am currently grappling with whether to return to [home state] for birth-family events this year, one last time; the rest of my household has flatly refused (for safety reasons among others); what feels like an easy decision is... well, my mom, who voted blue, is there. This is so hard.
I simply refuse to engage my Mother in conversation about political topics of any kind. She simply lacks any empathy and refuses to do even the simplest introspection. She knows people that are hurt by Trumpist policies, she just doesn't CARE. Even if that person is...Me.
I don't know if I WANT to keep visiting her. It sends a bad message to my Son. 🤔
@Heucuva8 I hear you. In my case it's my brother -- yet another doing-well-yet-always-vaguely-aggrieved middle-aged white guy. We haven't spoken since he told me he couldn't see a difference between TFG and Kamala. (Pretty sure his entire politics is based on Bill Burr routines.) That would be bad enough, but [home state] is downright gleeful in its hatefulness. Literally no one and nothing there I miss... aside from Mom.
