@bryanault @ZonaPellucida The Dems have never to actually moved much left. But I can agree we should find common ground. A few should be easy: no Nazis. No traitors in the White House or Congress. Elections should be run by us with one person, one vote, regardless of income, skin color, etc. Gerrymandering is bad (delivers extreme candidates). We want to pass a fertile earth and breathable air down to our gr-gr-grandkids.

@azuregris @bryanault It's hard to say what's going on. Are these common ground for enough people. I think likely most Democrats and a large chunk of Independents would fall into this category. Also traditional Republicans. But the ~35% that seem to be hard-core Trump supporters, at least so far? I don't think so. I don't actually buy into the economic anxiety theory of this phenomenon. I don't want common ground with them, unless it means their abandoning some of what appear to be core beliefs.

@ZonaPellucida @bryanault I agree that the Trump supporters are beyond reach. They’ve bu got into a cult, and that cult is grounded in hatred (whether conscious, intentional or not) of people different from them. It’s an old story. We are not immune to fascism here in the USA, and we ar getting closer by the minute. We non-totalitarian Dems & conservatives alike must find common ground and soon.
