AI art makes me sad, especially since it seems to be the artists responsabillity to say no to the creators of AIs and not the AI creators job to ask for permission ( Or pay for the image usage ). Only time id think AI is good, would be if it was all my own stuff and people paid me and not a programmer for the content. The work I put into school and training is way bigger than an AI googling my images. >_<

Hmmm, id imagine... your own lifes work into an AI and then that 'pool' to generate new images, it could be a nice pension thing. When my hands stop working the program can take over, I could accept that. Then its an insurance rather than a threat

@Zolah Depends on what one is using it for. I am dabbling for inspiration. and spurring ideas for real paintings.

@redgypsee Well, it would be good if all the collected images were from willing participants. Now its more like, someone was fast enough to grab as much as they could and get monetary gain out of it. Ive even seen programmers out of spite nab someones gallery to make a burner twitter account and upload all the " art " it generates. it frightens me

@Zolah When I am dabbling I use only my own images. I have 10s of thousands to choose from, lol. As a musician too, I cannot claim copyright if I use someone else's loops, right? Have to make my own beats. I always did dance to the beat of my own drum anyway, LOL. 😅

@redgypsee When I use images and whatnot I try to take photos of my own or by friends, sometimes its nice if you need a background etc. I barely do any fanart nowadays either, cause im trying to focus to make my own characters. ( its hard lol, cause its easy to sell " pinkie pie " while a fruit elf doesnt get as loved.) In music, you could change something small to call it your own rite? my gf plays music and i think she mentioned something... im not musical at all personally xP

@redgypsee yeah it sums up my thoughts and fears quite well, there's another article which shows a site who is made so you can search images that might be generated by your art and then get help to opt out from the ai sites. It's nice but it still put the work effort on the artist to see if their property been used, not the companies.

@Zolah I agree. AI has the potential to be a very useful tool, but right now it's being used in a terribly reckless and thoughtless way.

@LAHolloway Absolutely, it can be amazing in many ways. But now its like, just getting rid of a middle hand. If you have a niche artstyle, it doesnt matter. Cause someone can do it cheaper than you, why would they accept something thats both slower and cost more. I see myself as a mediocre artist, and I have already customers looking at AI. I cant compete with that :c

@Zolah I'm definitely mediocre myself, and I just embrace that. I have a lot of people interested in my paintings lately, and I think for them, they want something tangible, something they know the artist has touched. Using things that can't be digitally reproduced like glow-in-the-dark paint and textures helps.

@LAHolloway Most of my customers are online, they like my chibis and alike. IRL no one wants my stuff ^^:; I think im to bad at the social part lol. I want to play more with the metallic aquarelles thou and see what I could make, so pretty when moving in the light X_X

@Zolah Okay so weird question, but how do you feel about monster romance?

@Zolah Never played it, but I'm a sci-fi/fantasy romance author, and I know a lot of authors who write this genre. They are ALWAYS looking for chibi artists for their characters.

@LAHolloway Oh thats cool! yeah, no issues with it. being brought up on Addams, Ika I rutan ( Very gothic childrens show from sweden ), TTRPGs and Tim Burton makes your mind go wild xD

@Zolah If you have a link to a page with commissions and/or examples of your work, like a Ko-Fi, I can pass that along to my group chat.

@LAHolloway I actually do, it's a linktree on my profile- I also have a ko-fi but can't recall if I'm zolah or lady zolah there x.x

@LAHolloway Sorry, sleep meds kicking in - thank you ♡ forgot my manners

@Zolah That's okay, I'm sleepy too 😂

Passing the links along

@Zolah Well that sucks, entirely. People are greedy and unimaginative, sometimes It happens with traditional art too. Sweatshops in China copying artists work. I don't think will replace traditional, but I think it is important to recognize copyright. If one is the creator, then they own the copyright. Keep your files sketches, for proof. Send a cease & desist letter if you are ripped off. Be a pro and don't stand down. ;) Safety in numbers-organize.

@redgypsee Its really hard depending on the country, like, I had art stolen over at ali express.Tried to get it taken down but the site wanted my id card sent to them? so i chickened out. Then again, the item they sold had my customers URL on it still, so I dont think anyone would buy it.Anyway, If i get my items stolen I can only do my best. I hope the law i heard people talk about is happening, where you get more power VS AI when it comes to your work. That would make me feel a little more calm
