Today’s advice:

Act your wage. Do only what you have agreed to do, for the $$ you are being paid. NOTHING more.

Why? Because employees who give more to the company than asked of them rarely receive recognition/rewards/promotions. Why?

They’re already getting more out of you for free. That’s the goal: more profits, fewer labor costs. Company thrives, you stagnate. No incentive to change status quo.

Act your wage. If that doesn’t work, get out. It’s their problem, not yours.

Yes! And this is why in the situation I currently find myself in I'm up for severance rather than taking a job at a lower grade where I *know* I'll end up putting in as much effort as my current grade role cos that's who I am...
