Today is going to be all about #weaving in the sun and some #selfcare...
I'm not having the best of times atm. Some very badly managed organisational change (and possibly some bias... Conscious and unconscious...) means my job is being deleted and I was unsuccessful in the internal selection process for the higher graded job that is a partial replacement for my current role... So I'm now facing redundancy (layoff) after 18 years at the same place...
If anyone is hiring... Lol πβ
Yes, all handspun and homedyed wool, lots of Herdwick breed but a few others too. Oh, and some of the warp wool is plyed with some Kevlar yarn I found in the charity shop as an experiment.
It'll be a rug like this one (but brighter colours) backed with a coffee sack as long as I've got the size right on the loom!
Hopefully the work stuff will work out to my advantage. I'm in a union and they're helping and advising me. Fingers crossed. At lot of waiting and anxiety though.
Oh I love the finished rug! So much energy in the design and the colors play well together. I haven't spun any Herdwick and am unfamiliar with it. Is it particularly suited to things like rugs?
Kevlar yarn for the warp! π Well, that's probably going to stand up to the loom and then some.
@Helical_Code
Thanks :) Glad you like it. All handspun, that was first one done on the 8 heddle table loom :) I've probably made about 15 or so now
Herdwick sheep are mostly located in the UK lake District and have very hardwearing fleece that is very waterproof as it has lots of Kemp in it.

@Zailrand Sorry about your job. π I hope something comes along for you soon. #selfcare is important and there is no better way than with #fibrearts #crafting Enjoy your day!
@AlwaysCastingOn thank you :)
@Zailrand Do you sell your works? Very cool!
@Boilergal thanks :)
Have sold the odd bit in the past
@Boilergal given lots away as presents though :)
@Zailrand
I'm so sorry to here about your employment woes! I'm glad you are taking time for a little selfe care.
Thank you for sharing your weaving project! What's the goal for the finished object? What's the fiber (I'm guessing wool).
