@homebird I thought it was April 1st when I read this ffs. Cutting the £20 benefit uplift and now this. They are just hideous and clearly want us to have no social safety net at all. Nasty people :(
@Zailrand I think they are just totally out of touch with reality. They don't have to worry about food bills, heating bills, trying to make ends meet.

@Zailrand @homebird They have also reduced state pension to £40 per week for some people who have retired overseas. There is a list of countries including Australia where the cuts have been put in place. UK seniors eligible for a full pension should be receiving around £185 a week. It's difficult to save in these times but it would be risky to trust that a UK pension will be there when it's needed.
@garli_lauri @homebird yes, spouse (retired) mentioned this when I (again) suggested we should leave #PlagueIsland. Not like those people paid 40 yrs NI contributions or anything is it?!

@homebird @garli_lauri me too... I will have an occupational pension hopefully (but you know, rule changes etc are eroding that) and as I work in IT atm I plan to keep doing consultantancy work..
@Zailrand @garli_lauri Even if you have paid into a pension, they keep raising the pension age, so you are never getting to that stability.

I’m lucky enough that my job could be a wfh one. Contracting dried up and I had scramble for some freelancing work.
I have friends whose self built businesses dried up because they couldn’t attend events and others in PAYE jobs get fucked off with no comp.
It’s either a hobby, an ideology or a grift for these feckers. Time they were gone.
@joem2go Yeah. My IT support manager job was able to move to WfH but the stress of getting everyone else in the org set up to WfH broke me by Nov 20. Most of my self employed friends were in deep shit and many still are. Savings? Yeah, right....
