Once Good Riddance/Time of Your Life came on the radio and I commented nostalgically that this was the graduation song for my year. My decade-younger cousin gave me a disdainful look and replied that it's the graduation song for EVERY year.
Appalled! Get a hit song from your own graduating year! This is part of the soundtrack of my whole final year, not just a single farewell event at the end of it!
(Not really angry at people using it, just feels less of-my-era if it's used for EVERY era.)
Constantly reflecting how people like to force dichotomies on us. Remember the era of Mac vs PC or iPhone vs Android like they were some deep-seated personal philosophy and identifier? Rubbish. You just choose the product that suits your need, y'know, Apple for this, MS for that, replace either for something you like better when it comes along. Seriously, let's stop getting conned into thinking we have to permentantly choose between 2 things in life, be it products, people, opinions, whatever.
So often I feel things are forced to become "political" that shouldn't be. Learning to look at the past and recognise that something wasn't right isn't political, it's just growing up. If we learn that actions & systems that were considered normal are actually harmful, it's common sense to change them. This is why laws around smoking changed, and it's now illegal to ride without a helmet. Saddens me when harm persists because people have made problems about politics rather than basic humanity.
Had never heard of the "Streamys" (awards for streamers/vid creators) until yesterday so I looked up this year's list of winners. Already bothered by the awkward -ys choice, the list of nominees and winners has revealed paying attention to these has no value for me. Barring a few nominees, this is not the corner of YT/the net I'm interested in hanging out in. Challenging to account for popularity, entertainment, quality AND integrity in these formats, though. Just reflecting.
Is it Black Friday in the US yet? We have been having Black Friday sales since Sunday. And Australia doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving.
(Which is also why we've had Christmas items in the shops since before Hallowe'en. Australian shops have gone completely mad these days. Well, at least it gives me stuff to post about, eh heh heh.)
Sometimes music videos really don't live up to the vibe I had in my head while listening to the music alone...
It always gets to me in Sister Act how Harvey Keitel's character goes to all this trouble to kill Dolores because she witnessed him murdering someone, and yet he and his sidekicks and Dolores and the nuns all seem to think everything will be finished once Dolores sacrifices herself and he murders her in front of 10+ nuns as witnesses. Like, no. He's just creating even more witnesses to testify against him, this scenario isn't looking good for anyone...
Just a lil blob floating around the net.
(Introverted & silly. Haphazard & sporadic. Barely surviving; soon to be zombie. She/her...do zombies need genders?)
