So I was one of the early adopters of Dark Mode, for everything.
Scott Hanselman first recommended Dark Mode and cause he was one of my programming "heros" I adopted it as well.
but that was over 18 years ago. so Today I decided "hey let's try light mode and see if it makes a big difference"
OMG! My Eyes, They are burning, burning!!!
What the hell is wrong with you light-mode people?
Even CoSo was FUGLY!
@XSGeek dark mode is usually too low contrast for me, especially combined with the modern Material Design fad (don't get me started)
@XSGeek speaking of which, the Law of the Design Pendulum* says this will make a big comeback soon: https://frutiger-aero.org/frutiger-aero
*Just invented it

@XSGeek come to think of it, back then so did I. That was in CRT times though when the light source was brighter and harsher.
All that staring into CRTs probably aged our eyes quite a bit
@XSGeek I too experience retinal burns every time I return to "light mode."
