@BrentSullivan I dunno ... Pro baseball teams have played in far worse over the decades. Before the Astrodome, the then-Colt .45s played in an outdoor renovated minor league park plagued by mosquitoes.
When Astroturf came along, some parks had 130° temperatures on the field during day games.
The A's are moving to Las Vegas; the concepts show more of a giant awning than a fixed dome.
Tropicana Field just lost its fiberglass roof due to Milton, but it was beyond its life span.
@BrentSullivan Not doubting the temperature, just pointing out that pro baseball has often played in miserable conditions.
I used to shoot sports photography for the Angels. I could tell you horror stories about 117° summer games at the minor league complex in Tempe AZ.
The Guardian article impressed me more as the D'backs posturing to get either a new park, or concessions to stay in the current park. All teams do this dance near the end of their lease.
@WordsmithFL @MLClark
I grew up in Houston
In the 70's, it never hit 100°
Never
In a decade
Last year we had 39 days at 100+°. This year "only" 8
We are living on a different planet and most haven't realized it yet
