#Politics I just had the misfortune to listen to a #MAGA talk radio show. The host claimed he had the "smoking gun" to prove Nancy Pelosi was responsible for January 6.
In the audio recording he played, Pelosi clearly is talking about #Trump, but the host claims she's actually talking about herself. He declared that the liberal media will try to cover it up.
The host also said Hunter Biden's five-year old daughter should be taken away from him because otherwise he'll addict her to cocaine. 🤬
@WordsmithFL I'm not sure that enough...ummm..."credit" is given to AM radio for the sad state that we are in. It's been a 24/7 assault (in between gold, pillow, and dick med ads) for literally decades. Rush was the most recognized (but not the first). This programming has been a social poison for a long time. For a glimpse into the abyss, we should all spend an hour listening to our local conservative AM station to appreciate what these folks are constantly fed, if you can stomach it.
@Ironworker229 #Politics Clear Channel (now iHeartMedia) and Sinclair bought up most of the AM stations to eliminate progressive content. The ratings didn't matter; nor profitability; it was all about controlling what the public hears.
Progressives have gone to streaming content. I listen to Stephanie Miller, who built a studio in her basement, yet remains successful.
@Ironworker229 Al Gore and other investors started Current TV in 2005, but sold it off in 2013 to Al Jazeera.
That said ... Radio is a dying means of transmission. The progressives who are streaming seem to find their audience. They don't have the numbers of right-wing media, but that's mostly because the latter are elderly people sitting at home with nothing else to do.
@WordsmithFL I agree re: Clear Channel & Sinclair and their motivations. There are some really great sources for podcasts/streaming content these days, too. What's dismaying to me is that the radio onslaught from the right was so ubiquitous and went on for so long unopposed to do so much damage to the conservative mindset. Of course, Fox cable was another prong of the same attack. The brain worms were always there, on the right, but those outlets scattered them far and wide.
